A word of thanks from Sr LidiaI wish to thank you, Chiara and Marco, our kind benefactors, for your generous initiative in assisting us to help the needy children in the vicariate. I am very happy to share with you that in September the children with disability were my number one priority. I asked the child-care-workers here at Hlabisa to identify disabled children who are in need of some help. I was unaware of the fact that there are so many disabled children in our communities. I must admit the child-care-workers were very accurate in the selection of children in need. For example, in the first family they took me to, there was a small child, Asanda, a girl of 5 years old. As well as being disabled (deaf and mute), she is sick, and also an orphan, and has no birth certificate.
The best part of our visit is when we are able to help them. Then there are smiles, tears of joy, and prayers and thanksgiving songs to God and to the people who remember them. Each time it happens I feel humbled and I remember the people behind the scenes who play such an important role. They are the ones making it financially possible to give the help needed. And I wish and pray that one day every child would have enough to live with dignity, so that this world would be a better place for everyone.
